The Papuan King-Parrot is a long-tailed parrot of New Guinea’s forests and clearings. Males show vivid red, blue, and green, while female plumage differs between eastern and western parts of the island.
Males have a red head and underparts, blue on the nape and rump, dark wings, and a green shoulder bar. Eastern females are green above with a red belly; western females look more like males.
It uses forest and open areas from foothills to mid-mountains and gives clear piping calls.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
