The Song Wren inhabits humid lowland forest from Central America into northwestern South America and searches the leaf litter for food. It may be seen in family groups.
It is about 13–15 cm long, with a dark brown crown and back, an orange-brown throat and chest, and fine bars on the wings and tail. Bare skin surrounds the eye.
It is wary and may move in family groups. It searches among leaf litter and near columns of army ants for insects and spiders.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
