This small monkey occurs from Colombia's Pacific coast into Panama. It uses primary and secondary forest, including secondary growth with large trees, and can be found near cultivated areas.
The back has yellow, brown, and black stripes, while the belly is white. The face is sparsely furred, the crown has a short white patch, the nape is reddish, and the red tail has a black tip.
It occurs in primary and secondary dry or humid tropical forest and prefers secondary forest with large trees. A 2025 Panama study recorded it at two sites with vegetation near homes or land used for agriculture and livestock.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
