This ground-dwelling lark occupies semi-arid savanna in Botswana and South Africa. It feeds on insects and seeds on the ground in open areas with low bushes.
It measures 18–20 cm, and the sexes look similar. The long bill is slightly decurved, with a cream supercilium above a dark eye stripe. The back and rump are rusty brown, and the upper breast is streaked.
It forages on the ground in semi-arid savanna, mainly for insects and seeds. It nests on the ground in open habitat with low bushes rather than tall, dense grass.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
