The steppe field mouse is a small rodent of dry grasslands and farmland. It resembles close relatives, so skull traits help distinguish it.
It closely resembles the wood mouse, and is reported to be about the same size or slightly larger. Skull and dental traits are used to distinguish it.
It is omnivorous, eating seeds, insects and other invertebrates, fruits, and green plant parts. It uses open grasslands, steppe, and dry farmland.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
