This small mouse is known from Carazo in western Nicaragua. The confirmed specimens are one female and one male collected at a single locality near Diriamba in 1956.
The back is buffy brown with ocherous hairs, the sides are ocherous, and the underside is white. The hindfoot has a wedge-shaped dusky area extending to the bases of the toes. Its tail is longer than the combined head-and-body length.
The female collected on 16 June 1956 had two pairs of mammae, one pectoral and one inguinal. Their conspicuous condition and the bare areas around them have been interpreted as signs of lactation at capture or shortly beforehand.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
