This small harvest mouse is known from the upper slopes of Volcán Irazú in Costa Rica. Few specimens are available, and information on behavior and diet remains limited.
It was reported as slightly larger than the related R. garichensis, with a similar body shape. This comparison does not establish the species-wide range of coat colors.
Museum specimens examined by the authors were scarce, and the source does not establish its activity times or diet. The lack of ecological information is kept separate from observed facts.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
