Tristram's Bunting is a migratory bunting. In Hong Kong it is seen in winter and searches for food on the forest floor and quiet paths.
In breeding plumage, the male has a black head and throat with white stripes on the crown and above the eye. The female is less strongly patterned, and birds outside the breeding season do not always show the same look.
Birds wintering in Hong Kong search the forest floor for fallen fruit and small invertebrates; along quiet paths they may also eat grass seeds.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
