This mouse is known from the Islas Marías off Mexico’s Pacific coast. Its records are tied to islands separated from the mainland.
Compared with related deer mice, it is large, with a long sparsely haired tail, large hind feet, and relatively small ears.
Records from María Cleofas and other islands place it beneath fallen logs, projecting roots, and rocks, including rocky ledges. These are recorded shelters, not a complete account of its diet or nesting.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
