This arboreally adapted rat is recorded from lowland forest in Sabah, Borneo. A 2026 study reports that the only known specimen remains a juvenile holotype, so adult appearance and species-wide habits are poorly known.
The juvenile specimen had rusty-red dorsal fur, whitish underparts, and long, dense, soft hair. Its robust tail could wrap around branches, and the tops of its feet were dusky.
The holotype was trapped about 1.5 m above ground on a stump in dense vine-covered roadside regrowth along an abandoned logging road. During brief observation alive, it wrapped its tail around branches.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
