A small flycatcher that breeds in North America and migrates through Central America to northern Colombia. It has an olive-brown back, a white throat and pale wing bars.
Its back is brownish olive, its breast is dull off-white and its throat is white. Two pale bars cross each dark wing, and the sexes have similar plumage.
It favors low, dense willow and other shrub thickets, where it waits for flying insects. Males defend territories during breeding, and the species migrates in spring and fall.
