Here, Olive Tanager refers to the separate species *Chlorothraupis frenata* of the eastern Andean foothills. Its nest study examined Peruvian birds formerly called *C. carmioli frenata*.
Adult specimens from southeastern Peru were described with yellowish feathers at the base of the bill and clear green plumage over the body.
A study in Manu National Park examined 34 nests of birds then called *Chlorothraupis carmioli frenata*. The nests were in forest, and many were near streams.
