The Togian Golden Bulbul is restricted to Indonesia’s Togian Islands off central Sulawesi. A study comparing museum plumage, measurements, and vocal samples separated it from the related Golden Bulbul complex.
In the specimen comparison, it had golden-yellow underparts, faint wedge-shaped yellow lores, a blackish frontal line, and a yellow-tinged rump. The authors described its song as seemingly more complex than that of the related Sula population.
In surveys from 1996 to 2002, groups of up to five were recorded relatively frequently on Togian Island; groups up to five also foraged in secondary forest on Walea Bahi. The authors sometimes detected them by a repeated nasal single-note call.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
