This bulbul lives in forests on Seram Island, Indonesia. A field paper reports it as widespread in forested areas, mainly from sea level to about 900 m, with an observation at 1,300 m.
Museum specimens from Seram were described as having wedge-shaped yellow lores, broad yellow tips to the tail, and a larger bill than related populations.
It is active by day in forest and is recorded mainly as a fruit eater. A cited field survey described it as common in Seram forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
