A small mouse studied in Nyungwe National Park, Rwanda. A field identification study recorded a dark copper-brown back and reddish hair tips on the belly.
Its back is dark copper-brown; the belly has reddish hair tips and a buff-gray appearance.
In Nyungwe, it was found in dense grass or fern cover and open patches, and was rare beneath closed canopy.
