The Earth-Colored Mouse is a small rodent recorded in agricultural areas of the Indian subcontinent. It burrows in raised field bunds, a behavior studied alongside its close relative.
The back is brownish gray and the underside is light gray. The tail is described as slightly shorter than the combined head-and-body length.
It stays in burrows by day and comes to the surface at night to search for food and mates. In Indian rice and wheat fields, it was recorded digging burrows about 20 cm deep in raised earthen bunds used to hold water.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
