Kobus anselli is a lechwe with a reddish-brown back and white underparts. It was described from the Upemba wetlands of southeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
In the skins compared for the description, the back and upper neck were reddish brown, the sides pale red, and the belly, groin, lips, and chin white. Dark foreleg markings were reduced to a thin stripe or knee patch. Of 18 skins, 15 lacked a white throat stripe on the upper third; 11 had an entirely red throat.
The paper restricts this lechwe to the Upemba wetlands and Kamalondo depression; its specimen series includes animals collected in the Upemba Swamps along the Lualaba River. The paper does not report direct observations of diet or movement.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
