This lark migrates from breeding areas in central Africa to southern Africa. It forages on the ground in open savanna and woodland, eating insects and some seeds.
It has a dark brown back, heavily streaked underparts, and a boldly patterned face, with long legs and pointed wings.
It walks along the ground for insects and also eats seeds. It may take insects flushed by grazing mammals, and moves south after breeding in central Africa.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
