The Blue-capped Hummingbird is a mountain species in southern Mexico; the male has a vivid blue-violet forecrown.
The male has a deep blue-violet forecrown, green and gold plumage, an orange wing patch, and a white tail. The female has pale grey underparts and lacks the dark cap.
It visits flowers and feeds mainly on nectar. The species page does not establish an insect diet, so that is not included here.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
