A small parrot of eastern Australia. It is green with a black bill and a red patch that extends from the forehead to the throat.
It has a small green body, black bill, orange-yellow eye, and red patch extending from the forehead to the throat but not the ear-coverts.
It feeds mainly on nectar and pollen in the canopy of open eucalypt forest and woodland. It travels in small flocks and nests in hollows in tree limbs or trunks.
