The Purple-crowned Lorikeet has a purple crown as an adult and often feeds on nectar and pollen from eucalypts.
Its upperparts are bright green and its underparts pale blue, with a purple crown. Red, yellow, and orange patches mark the face near the eye and cheek.
When eucalypts flower, it feeds on nectar and pollen in the canopy. It also eats some fruits and berries, and may move as flowering and fruiting trees change.
It prefers tree hollows with narrow entrances, and both sexes prepare the nesting hollow.
The underwing has a prominent red patch, and the underside of the tail is yellow.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
