The New Zealand breeding population of the White-faced Storm Petrel is marked by a white face and a bounding, pattering way of feeding at the sea surface.
Adults described in the New Zealand profile are gray above, with darker wing tips and tail, mostly white below, and a broad gray stripe through the white face.
It picks planktonic crustaceans and small fish from the surface and bounds over the water while feeding. Around New Zealand it nests in burrows on small offshore islands.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
