The Lesser Ground-Cuckoo lives in arid lowlands from western Mexico to northwestern Costa Rica. It forages on open ground and, more often, in the understory.
It is mostly brown above, with a long graduated tail, and buff-orange below. A pale eyebrow and bare blue skin behind the eye are distinctive; the bill is slightly downcurved.
It forages on the ground and, more commonly, in the understory. Although often furtive, it may perch in the open, and it builds a shallow bowl-shaped nest on the ground.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
