This funnel-eared bat is endemic to Cuba. It has been recorded in caves on the Guanahacabibes Peninsula. Cave behavior is documented, but many of its habitat requirements remain unknown.
Its forearm is reported as 46–52 mm and body mass as 7–13 g. It has a broad, flattened muzzle, large squarish ears with rounded tips, and long, soft gray to yellow-orange fur.
The conservation plan reports small groups roosting low on the walls of dark cave chambers and moving among roosting spots. It also suggests that slow, maneuverable flight near cave walls may help catch invertebrates.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
