This tanager lives in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. It favors forested areas and may join other tanagers in the treetops.
It is about 18 cm long. The back is slate-blue, the underparts bluish grey with a paler throat, and the shoulder of the wing is a stronger blue. Females are slightly paler.
It eats fruit and seeds as well as insects, larvae, and small spiders. It forages in treetops with other tanagers and builds a cup-shaped nest in a fork of a tree.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
