This small mouse lives in mountain forest on Mindanao. Its upper fur is soft and dark brown, while the underside is deep buffy grey.
The back, sides and outer limbs are soft dark brown. The underside and inner limbs are deep buffy grey; the tail is brown above, pale grey below and ends in a short white tip.
It is recorded in evergreen montane and mossy forest, and the handbook reports it as especially common in primary mossy forest. It is also found in areas regenerating after landslides.
