The Mexican Jay ranges from Mexico into the southwestern United States, inhabiting mountain woodlands in family groups.
Its plumage is soft blue and gray. Compared with other scrub-jays, it has a smaller black bill and lacks a blue necklace.
Groups may contain 5–25 birds, with several members helping feed young. In winter they eat acorns and pine nuts and often cache acorns.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
