A study in Ndundulu Forest, Tanzania, recorded seasonal changes in the feeding observations of Shelley's Greenbul. An older description of the nominate form has a green crown close in color to the back and pale yellowish-olive underparts.
The nominate form is described with a green crown nearly matching the back, olive-green sides of the face, and pale yellowish-olive underparts. The breast is slightly darker than the throat.
Feeding observations in Ndundulu Forest included more fruit in the dry season and predominantly arthropods in the wet season.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
