The Eastern Crested Berrypecker lives in moist montane forest in the eastern New Guinea highlands. It has a black crest and face, a blue-gray tail, and yellowish areas on the lower belly.
The forehead, crest, face, throat, and upper breast are black, with a pale gray hindcrown and nape. The upperparts are green, the tail and parts of the underparts blue-gray, and the lower belly and undertail coverts olive-yellow.
In moist montane forest it feeds mainly on small fruit and occasionally insects. It forages from the canopy to shrubs and the ground and is usually seen in pairs or small flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
