This hare lives in rocky country. It hides in crevices or beneath rocks by day and feeds on grasses and shrub shoots at night.
Its back is brown and its underside is white. The face and ears are grey, while the tail and legs have a russet tone.
It is nocturnal and eats grasses, herbs and shrub shoots. It is usually solitary, but may live close to hyraxes and use the same rock shelters.
