The Bassian Thrush lives in forests of Australia and Tasmania and searches beneath leaf litter on the forest floor. Pale spots and dark crescent-like markings pattern its plumage; it eats insects, worms, and fruit.
Adults are olive to ochre, with pale spots and dark crescent-like scalloping on the back and wings. A white eye-ring surrounds the eye, and the underparts are also spotted or barred.
It is described as solitary or in pairs and forages on the ground under leaf litter. Its diet includes insects, earthworms, molluscs, and fruit.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
