The Black-chinned Hummingbird is a small hummingbird found across western North America into Mexico. A male's black chin can flash purple in the right light.
It has a green back and a black chin; in good light, the iridescent band below the male's chin appears purple.
It darts among flowers for nectar and also catches flying insects. It uses habitats from deserts to mountain forests and may visit gardens.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
