This bulbul is endemic to the foothills of India’s Western Ghats. Its account favors semi-evergreen and moist deciduous woodland, with use of secondary growth and sacred groves.
Its yellow body contrasts with a black, short-crested head; the throat is orange-red and the iris white.
It eats fruit and insects and is reported in small family groups. It uses thickets and several kinds of woodland, while very wet evergreen forest is less favored.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
