This small bird occurs in the Seychelles. Breeding males show yellow feathers on the crown and chin, unlike females, nonbreeding males, and juveniles.
About 13 cm long, it is olive-brown with a strong, broad black bill and a small white patch on the wing. Breeding males have yellow feather patches on the crown and chin. Females, nonbreeding males and juveniles lack yellow and have brown bills and legs.
Both sexes build a domed nest from grasses and other plants. The female alone incubates one or two eggs, and both parents feed the nestlings.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
