This small finch occurs in northern South America. Orinoco field notes describe small flocks along pond and stream edges. The recorded female had olive-brown upperparts and a paler belly.
An adult female described in the 1916 account was dusky olive-brown above, with a lighter brown head. The underparts were grayish brown, paler on the chin and upper throat and whitish at the belly centre; the breast and flanks had faint dark shaft streaks.
The same account says it commonly visited pond and stream margins and stayed in small flocks except during the nesting season. These are local field observations, not a year-round mean flock size.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
