The broad-faced deermouse has a dark streaked back and a pale underside. It has been studied in humid mountain forests of southern Mexico.
The back is brown to nearly black with dark streaks. The underside is cream to pale yellow, rusty patches occur on the chest or shoulders, and the feet are whitish.
The thesis describes humid forests at 1,800–3,000 m, including conifer forest, oak forest, and cloud forest. Sites with leaf litter, moss, fallen logs, and moss-covered rocks are noted.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
