The Dusky Seram Melomys is a medium-sized rodent recorded on Seram Island, Indonesia. It has a relatively short tail, and reports describe it using forest trees.
The paper describes a medium-sized Melomys with a tail shorter than the head and body and nearly black dorsal fur.
Most specimens were collected in primary forest at about 650–1,830 m. Local informants described it as arboreal and said it comes down at night. A small number of records also came from banana plantations.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
