This tamarin was recorded in flooded forest during fieldwork in Brazil’s Amanã Reserve. The survey reported 11 new localities.
One Amanã specimen described in the 2004 paper had almost unpigmented facial skin, black body fur, and a dark-brown mantle over the shoulders.
The 2010 paper reports 11 new localities from two field trips in Amanã in 2004 and confirms the species' first records from flooded forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
