Males have magenta streaks on the throat, while females and immature birds show peachy tones below. They breed in mountain meadows and streamside thickets and feed on nectar and small insects.
A male has narrow magenta streaks fanning across the throat. Females and immature birds have peachy tones on the underparts.
For breeding, it uses mountain meadows, willow and alder thickets beside streams, and regenerating forests after fires or logging. It takes nectar and small insects, then migrates to Mexico for winter.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
