This flycatcher is found only in the Galápagos Islands. It perches on exposed branches and darts out to catch insects.
A 2024 study on Santa Cruz describes adult males as red and black and adult females as brown with yellowish underparts.
It waits on exposed branches or shrubs, then sallies after flying insects or drops to the ground to take prey.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
