This tailorbird occurs in the southern Philippines. A study of specimens from three islands found that adult males and females both have black throats and upper breasts, with plumage differences among islands.
Adult birds from Mindanao, Dinagat, and Siargao have black chins, throats, and upper breasts in both sexes. The sampled Dinagat and Siargao birds had paler bellies and brighter, yellower sides, flanks, and tails than Mindanao birds.
It uses the undergrowth of dense lowland forest, usually in pairs, and feeds on small invertebrates.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
