This small bird lives in low tangles of humid montane forest. Males are gray, while females have a rufous-brown head and back, among other sex-specific differences.
The male is slaty gray with faint white wing bars. The female has a rufous-brown back and cap, while the sides of her head and underparts are gray streaked with white.
In undisturbed humid montane forest it forages alone or in pairs, usually in dense tangles within about 2 m of the ground. It sometimes joins mixed-species flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
