This semi-aquatic rodent was described from Sulawesi. The single specimen used in the description was caught while swimming in a stream; only aquatic insect larvae were found in its mouth and stomach.
The described specimen had dense gray-brown fur above and pale gray fur below. It had small eyes, short ears mostly covered by fur, and one white spot on each side of the rump.
The specimen was caught while swimming in a stream. Its mouth and stomach held only aquatic insect larvae that cling to stones in fast-flowing shallow water; the authors inferred that it forages on the stream bottom.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
