This antpitta occurs in the southern Brazilian Amazon. A 2012 revision treated it as a lineage distinguished from relatives by vocal and genetic evidence.
The specimens assigned to population A, paraensis, in the revision have streaks along the feather shafts on the mantle. Their plumage closely resembles related species, so this pattern alone does not identify the species.
It uses dense forest and is described as an invertebrate-eater.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
