The Bee Hummingbird is described as the world's smallest bird. Males have iridescent throat feathers, and the birds visit flowers for nectar in Cuba.
Females are slightly larger than males, while males are more brightly colored and have iridescent throat feathers. Adult males and females differ in appearance.
It hovers in front of flowers to drink nectar and also takes insects and spiders from within flowers. It is active by day and tends to live alone outside the breeding period.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
