Ringed Storm Petrels occur offshore along the Humboldt Current on the west coast of South America. A breeding site has also been recorded inland in Chile's Atacama Region, where birds were reported to enter the nesting site at night.
The body is generally gray, with white on the throat, chest, and belly and a gray collar. The crown is dark, and the dark tail is forked.
At sea it is reported off Ecuador, Peru, and Chile in the Humboldt Current region. The known inland breeding evidence is one colony in Chile's Atacama Region plus isolated nests; birds were reported to visit nesting sites at night.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
