This African eagle has a black chest band and a white belly. It spots and catches snakes and other prey on the ground.
The head, back, and wings are blackish, and the chest is dark.
It is mostly solitary by day, but gathers in large night roosts that can hold up to 200 birds.
It watches from a perch, soars, or hovers low while hunting. Snakes are its main prey, though it also takes small mammals, birds, and amphibians.
The lower breast and belly are nearly white; the tail is banded and the eyes are yellow.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
