This icterid lives in central and southern South America, using open woodland, scrub, and grassland with scattered trees.
It has a light-gray body, charcoal-gray tail, rust-colored wings, black facial lores, and a short black bill.
It often reuses nests built by other birds, and nonbreeding males may help breeding pairs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
