This small vireo is endemic to Hispaniola. With a broad, flattened bill, it moves low through scrub and thickets in limestone dry forest while looking for fruit and insects.
It is grayish green, with duller yellow-washed underparts. It has two bold white wing bars, whitish eyes, and a noticeably broad, flat, triangular dark gray bill.
It usually uses dense lowland scrub in dry forest over limestone. It forages low for small fruits and insects, sometimes descending to the ground, and also catches flying insects. The account also describes territorial body-shaking and harsh scolding calls.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
