The Kafue mole-rat is a subterranean mole-rat. The specimens in its original description were collected in Kafue National Park, Zambia.
Its coat changes with age, from dark gray in young pups to brown in juveniles and golden ochre in adults. Most individuals have a white spot on the head.
The original account places it among subterranean mole-rats and reports specimens from grassland and nearby cultivated fields. Detailed ecological records remain limited.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
